Maritime Engineering

In "Maritime engineering", we understand the planning, design, construction and finally the building of everything that floats on the water and/or has to do with the water.

When designing tugs and work boats, we rely to the experience and requirements of the company Hans Schramm & Sohn Schleppschifffahrt and develop practical solutions for maritime duties.

The NavTug® family currently includes several models, of which the NavTug® 18TS push and the NavTug® FlatTop are already operating successfully. NavTug® is our pride and demonstrates the strength and effectiveness of teamwork in the SCHRAMM group. The name NavTug ® is protected by a trademark.

Another development is our offshore wave lift OWL, which enables the safe surpassing on e.g. a wind energy plant.

One new design is the „NavTug® FlatTop“, a versatile and powerful assistance vessel similar to „MultiCat“ or „Euro-Carrier“ types.

Project description

In December 2010, we could successfully lay the first NavTug® FlatTop on keel. It took place on Istanbul based Turkish yard SanMar. Beginning of 2012 the vessel was finished and – after sailing to Germany – was integrated to „Hans Schramm und Sohn Schleppschifffahrt” fleet.

Before keel-laying, extensive meetings regarding interfaces and design have been performed with the yard as well as initial and structural design works.

The „NavTug® FlatTop“ is a versatile and powerful assistance vessel similar to „MultiCat“ or „Euro-Carrier“ types. The main difference is that this vessel was developed in close discussions with German flag state authorities.

Due to its small draught, it can operate near shore in shallow water as well as offshore for miscellaneous assistance jobs in construction sites or as anchor handling vessel for cable-laying vessels in offshore wind farms.

This type of tug boat meets all international and national regulations for 24h service, especially regarding size of cabins and sound levels and –protection (< 60dBA).

With a length of 31,5 m and a beam of 11,5 m it has a bollard pull of 50 tons. The vessel has a big free working deck with a powerful deck crane and a double drum independent towing- and anchor-handling winch.

After commissioning, the tug will operate as an assistance vessel for the cable-laying barge „NOSTAG 10“.

NavTug® 19TS push

The NavTug® 19TS is a further development of the push NavTug® 18TS push

Due to extension of 500 mm in lenght and 500 mm in breadth, it has more room for larger fresh water and seawage tanks, and slightly larger mess. This will allow longer operating hours and offer more comfort. The keel design was modified and now offers a better way to dry out, docking as well as space for pipes. The engine power was increased to provide a higher bollard pull. Based on this model, a version with a fixed deckhouse is planned.

Projektbeschreibung

Offshore Wave Lift

Offshore Wave Lift

The offshore wave lift (OWL) is a new developed Offshore-Access-System which provides a safe transfer from an offshore vessel to an offshore wind turbine or platform. The OWL was developed in cooperation of the company NavConsult and EnPro from Bremerhaven (Patent pending).

Currently, a fully functionatile model in a scale of 1:20 exists, which can be visited by appointment. The construction of a 1:1 prototype is planned.

Additional information is available in the section downloads.

Short description of the Offshore Wave Lift (OWL)

  • The OWL is a floating man basket which is mounted in vertical sliding rails with a special buoyancy body.
  • The winch can be actived by a remote control on board of the OSV or locally in the basket.
  • When the OWL is floating it follows the movement of the sea whereby the height difference between the basket and ship will be highly reduced. This guarantees a safe transfer from OSV to the OWL.
  • The winch secures a controllable lifting and lowering of the basket.
  • An automatic locking device keeps the OWL in the highest position when activated which will also be used as park position.

Advantages

  • No special access system is necessary on the vessel.
  • Every type of vessel is applicable.
  • Safe transfer is also possible in higher waves.
  • Can also be disconnected from foundation and used as a life raft.
  • Can also be used as a lift for tools and spare parts.
